Vietnam & the End of the
Cold War
The Vietnam war resulted in about 200,000 American deaths which significantly decreased the American population. Although there were still many births from the baby boom, there were not enough to make up for the deaths experienced in the Vietnam War. The Immigration Reform act got rid of the quota system that allowed for more western Europeans to live in the United States. Also the Fair Housing Act allowed African Americans to buy or rent any kind of property.
